Kestrel Candles contain soy wax, which is a natural, renewable and biodegradable wax that burns slowly and cleanly. Candle jars can be easily cleaned in hot, soapy water and reused for other purposes.

Large Kestrel Candles burn for approximately 60 hours and medium candles burn for approximately 45 hours. This also depends on how each candle is cared for during use.

During the first burn, each candle needs to burn for at least two hours or until the wax melts to the sides of the jar and 1cm down. This will ensure that tunneling does not occur, which is when dry, hard wax forms around the edge of the candle. Always trim the wick after each use to ensure a brighter, cleaner burn and to prevent soot developing on the jar. Never burn your candle for more than four hours at a time and always place it away from draughts for safety.

Always stop burning your candle after four hours. When there is less that 10mm of wax left in the bottom of the jar, it is time to rinse your jar out for reuse. This may not be enough wax left in the candle for it to absorb the heat of the flame, which can lead the glass to becoming hot and/or cracking.

There are two jar sizes – Large and Medium. The Summit Collection comes in  medium only in a classic black jar. All other collections come in both large and medium in a modern white opaque jar.
